Weird highway response

  • Nov. 26th, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Sunday the hubby and I went for a ride in the cool weather (~55). While I enjoy cool weather riding, the man does not...so it took quite a bit to get him out on his bike. He enjoyed the ride and I did too. But, I had this weird response from my bike on the highway. With my new tach I can see the rpm's of my engine. When I'm traveling around 70-75 mph the rpm's of my bike's engine are quite high -5,000 to be exact (the max is 6500). I've known the bike doesn't really like long travel on the highway...but it can... so I take it on the highway. That wasn't so weird... What was weird was this... a bunch of traffic slowed down fairly quickly so I had to slow down fairly quickly too. I loosened my grip on the throttle a little and barely touched my brakes (since we were traveling at a high rate of speed). My bike kind of did this subtle wobble. I didn't like it... My thoughts are... What if I had to really put the brakes on... how is my bike going to respond then? I've put the brakes on fairly hard traveling around 45 mph...and the bike stops quickly and nicely. Does the high rate of speed make that much of a difference? Any input out there?

Alright... what's sad... the hubby plugged his bike in yesterday. :( I told him that wouldn't last long... Come on... tomorrow its going to be 60 degrees.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
