Sput...sput...sputter...

Yesterday after work we took off for an errand ride. Before we left we filled up the oil tank. Luckily, it was only low by 1 quart, so I was hopeful that all would be well. My bike is a tank afterall... After we took off I noticed my bike kind of lugged in the lower gears, but she does that after she has sat for a couple of days (2 days). After nearing our first destination my bike started to sputter and really lug and my first thought was, "God damnit! I fucked up my bike. I'm sooo bullshit." My next thought, "I hope this doesn't cost too much to fix... on the otherhand maybe I can get my Nighster early" ;) So, I honked at my ole man and gave him a thumbs down. Right then, the bike just shuts off. "Damn it. Damn it. Dammmmnnnn iiittttt!" I pull over to the side of an entrance road, turn off the ignition, and start pushing my bike into a nearby parking lot. The man comes over and finishes the job for me (hey, I can push my bike... she's my bike... Anyone else feel like that? -although I was grateful -my back is held together by rods and screws, and the last thing I wanted was a worse than usual backache). Anyway... After we parked my bike the man asked if I tried switching to my reserve tank. I said no and stated that since I let the oil get low (my bike drinks oil -she's such a lush), that engine damage was my first thought not the gas. He took the bike, switched to reserve and rode it around. My bike was fine... whew... I felt a little noobish for not just switching to reserve right away (like I normally do). So, I learned a good lesson in quick trouble shooting...like just switching to reserve first, then worrying about other problems... We had a good ride although it was HOT yesterday (~90 on the bike).
